This course introduces the key concepts in cell biology and their experimen tal underpinnings, and incorporate medically relevant examples where appr opriate to help illustrate the connections between cell biology and health an d human disease. The course covers basic concept of cell biology, culturing , visualizing, and perturbing cells, biomembrane structure, transmembrane t ransport of ions and small molecules, moving proteins into membranes and organelles, vesicular traffic, secretion, and endocytosis, signal transduction and G protein-coupled receptors, signaling pathways that control gene exp ression, cell organization and movement, the eukaryotic cell cycle, and cell death, immunology, and cancer.
