生物標誌物一般是指可供客觀測定和評價的一種普通生理或病理或治療過程中的某種特徵性的生化指標，通過對它的測定可以獲知生物體當前所處的生物學過程中的進程。檢查一種疾病特異性的生物標誌物，對於疾病的鑑定、早期診斷及預防、治療過程中的監控可能起到幫助作用。尋找和發現有價值的生物標誌物已經成為目前研究的一個重要熱點。本課程希望可以藉由此課程來教導學生了解生物指標篩選的準則、方法與技術。

A biomarker is measurable indicator of a specific biological state,particularly one relevant to the risk of contraction,the presence or the stage of disease.The purpose of this concourse is to increase participants^， understanding of the overall process of biomarker discovery and validation and strategies and challenges.
