幹細胞是一類具有自我更新和分化潛能的細胞。以幹細胞為種子培 育成組織和器官，可用於再生醫學具，有再生各種組織器官的潛在 功能。幹細胞的應用還包含新藥開發以及基因功能研究等領域。另 外，癌症幹細胞的發現也促使研究者投入許多心力發展針對癌症幹 細胞的療法，希望能夠專一性地殺死癌症幹細胞，以降低腫瘤產生 抗藥性或是轉移的現象。本課程希望可以藉由此課程來教導學生了 解幹細胞的種類、特性與相關研究技術。

Self-renewal is the ability of cells to proliferate without the loss of differentiation potential. The purpose of this course is to increase participants' understanding of stem cell biology from basic science to clinical applications.
